Endeavour Celebrates Black History Month

Three Doors Decorated in honor of Black History Month

At Endeavour Elementary School throughout the month of February, students and staff worked together to create door decorations representing notable, amazing and inspiring achievements in honor of Black History Month.

“I am beyond grateful for the dedication and creativity of our Equity Team,” Principal Megan Funes said. “Their initiative to organize our Black History Month Door Decorating Contest is a shining example of how we celebrate diversity, honor history, and create an inclusive learning environment for all. This contest is more than just a fun project — it has been an opportunity for students and staff to engage in meaningful conversations, learn about influential Black leaders, and showcase their creativity in a way that fosters understanding and unity.”

Funes thanked the Endeavour Equity Team, and Andrei Zotov and AnhThu Ngo, for leading the way and the school staff members for embracing the celebration of history, culture and achievement.

Zotov said they wanted to start the door-decorating contest for Black History Month as a fun way to celebrate and raise awareness about Black history.

“To increase engagement from staff and students, we let each classroom decide on one person they wanted to learn more about and highlight for their door,” he added. “Lots of our staff bought in and started decorating right away and it’s been exciting to see what everyone has come up with … Students have also been eager to participate in the contest and see what teachers and staff across the school are able to put together.”
