The importance of on-time arrival at school

Why Does Being on Time Matter?

Our doors at Endeavour open at 9:10 AM and learning begins at 9:15 AM, and when students arrive late, they miss more than just attendance—they miss key moments that set the tone for their day, including morning meetings, instructions, and the chance to connect with their classmates.

Research shows that chronic tardiness can impact academic performance and social-emotional well-being. Studies have found that:

  • Students who are frequently late are more likely to struggle with reading and math.
  • Tardiness can lead to feelings of anxiety or embarrassment, making it harder for children to focus on learning.
  • Consistent routines help children develop lifelong habits of responsibility and punctuality.

A Team Effort

I understand that every family’s morning looks different, and there will always be the occasional rough start. Please know that my goal is to support you, not to place blame. If you’re struggling with morning routines, please reach out—we’re happy to help brainstorm solutions.

If you can, consider leaving just 5-10 minutes earlier each morning to allow for traffic or weather delays. A little extra time can make a big difference in helping your child start their day calm, prepared, and ready to learn.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring that every student has a smooth and successful start to their school day.

Warmly,
Megan Funes
Principal
